We stole this text from ACT's website, but figured they wouldn't mind:

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the global World AIDS Day campaign. World AIDS Day is the day when individuals and organisations from around the world come together to bring attention to the global AIDS epidemic. With an estimate of over 33 million people currently living with HIV/AIDS globally, its time for all of us to Stop AIDS and Keep the Promise.

Here in Toronto, two people are newly infected with HIV each day, and more people are living with HIV/AIDS in the city than ever before.
