You can change your password in your account settings in your profile. To get there, click on the Your Profile menu on the right hand side, and once there, click the Edit tab, and then Account settings. Or to get there quickly, click here. Under the "Account Information" section, there is a place to change your password.

Check your firewall or other security settings on your computer. The full-size file viewer has been known to be denied access on some computers where the firewall settings were preventing it from doing its job.

Ummmm... you don't. You already have one. We don't have different levels of membership like other sites claiming free access but that limit what you can do until you pay. We are a totally free site, with no limits (except for the amount of space we give you for photos, 'cause we're not flikr and don't want to be... they already do it way better than we could). So send all the private messages you want, look at all the profiles and photos you want, participate as much as you want in the forums, etc., etc. You already have a full membership.

Your profile photo is set separately from your gallery photos. To upload a pic for your main photo (which is also used as an avatar), you need to go to the Edit tab of your account settings and profile (Your Profile in the menu), make sure the Account settings subtab is selected, and then scroll down to where you see the section labelled Picture. Upload your profile picture there.

We built livingOUTthere.com primarily using the latest version of Firefox, whilst also testing it on IE7 and Safari 3. While all these browsers work, we like Firefox the best. If you're using an older version of any of the browsers, however, we suggest you upgrade to the latest versions, as livingOUTthere.com takes advantage of aspects of the modern browsers.

No. You will not be asked to pay anything to use the site. And, there is no limit on the number of

  • - private messages you send
  • - profiles you view
  • - pictures you view
  • - searches you make
  • - times you list and filter users
  • - blog posts you read
  • - anything else.

We are funded by the generous support of our advertisers, whose ads you see on the site.

No, they do not have to be registered at livingOUTthere.com. Profiles are accessible whether or not someone is registered or logged on to livingOUTthere.com. There is a link in the header labelled "Your profile link". That is a URL that you can give anyone for them to see your livingOUTthere.com profile.

First, try what you did again, and see if it works. The internet is not a guaranteed network, and sometimes excessive traffic somewhere between your web browser and our servers cause things to get lost.

If it's still a problem, send a private message to the Administrator, or alternatively to support@livingOUTthere.com, and we will look into the issue as soon as possible. Please supply as much information about what's not working as possible, including your operating system and version, your browser and version, how you got to the page that's not working, if you entered any data, what was it, what exactly happened, etc. The more information you can provide, the faster we will likely be able to solve the problem.

Remember, we're a free site, so sometimes things take time.

Send a private message to the administrator detailing your idea. Please remember we're a free site, so that means there's no big development staff, and it takes a bit more time to do things than one of those other big pay sites. Nonetheless, we'll review your idea to make sure it fits with the objectives of the site, and if we feel it's a good fit, we'll put it on our list.

At the bottom of the user's profile page, there is a link to "Flag this" under the heading "Flag User". Click that link and confirm that you wish to flag the user. The Site Administrator will regularly review flagged profiles, and if they are found to be inappropriate for the site, the user will be contacted and the profile disabled or removed at the discretion of the Site Administrator.

Send a private message to the Site Administrator including the User ID of the person in question, and the nature of the harassment. The Administrator will look into it promptly, and will get back to you with findings and course of action.

In the user profile, there is the Buddy List section, under which there is a heading Buddy actions and the action Add user to my buddylist, where user is the user name of the member at whose profile you are looking. Clicking this will result in that user getting an eMail request for you to be added to their buddylist. Provided they approve it, they will appear on your buddy list, and you can then see who of your buddies is on-line. You'll also appear on their buddylist.

This is one of those things about which we have a bit of a personal aggravation. Seems that every site asks about HIV status, but doesn't ask about a number of other things (such as HepA/B, HepC, Syphilis, Gonorrhea, HPV which causes genital worts, and herpes) that could be just as bad, frankly. We feel there are some things --- such as personal health issues, financial status, the market value of your investment portfolio, whether or not you really get along with your mother, or how many years of therapy you've had --- that properly belong in a conversation later on, and not really published up-front. Now, that being said, if you want to detail all those things, well, hey, you have the free-form text area "About me" in which to do it.

And, you know, it's always a good idea to inform the other person about stuff like that before you get hot and heavy (well, you don't have to go into the stuff about your mother).

Well, you know, we're not one of those pay sites that tries to hand-cuff you to our site, so no, we won't prevent you from linking to another site of putting an eMail address in your profile. In fact, if you really want to, you might as well put your full address and phone number in there too. But seriously, while we won't prevent you from doing so (save for one circumstance which we detail below), we don't advise it. There are a lot of great gals and guys out there in the virtual world, and there are a few that really need a bit more sessions with their analyst. So until you figure out which is which, probably best to use the private messaging here to communicate. And there's no limit, so no worries (it's that free-site-thing).

Now for the exception: if we find out that your profile is in fact a commercial advertisement, or some other way were you're trying to make bucks off our free site, or we even suspect that's the case, we'll not only remove your eMail, site reference, phone number, and / or address, we'll remove your account! So don't do it! If you wish to advertise on livingOUTthere.com, please contact us at info@livingOUTthere.com.

Also, for all you non-commercial types, if you see a commercial-looking profile, please flag it (go to the bottom of the profile and click the "Flag this" link).

This is a little quirk of our system that will show an "Offline" indicator under your avatar picture when you first log on to the system. However, rest assured you appear logged-on to everyone else on the system, and as soon as you do something to refresh the page, you'll see your indicator change. We'll work on this quirk, but in the mean time, don't fret about it.
