Why don't you ask about HIV status in the user profile?

This is one of those things about which we have a bit of a personal aggravation. Seems that every site asks about HIV status, but doesn't ask about a number of other things (such as HepA/B, HepC, Syphilis, Gonorrhea, HPV which causes genital worts, and herpes) that could be just as bad, frankly. We feel there are some things --- such as personal health issues, financial status, the market value of your investment portfolio, whether or not you really get along with your mother, or how many years of therapy you've had --- that properly belong in a conversation later on, and not really published up-front. Now, that being said, if you want to detail all those things, well, hey, you have the free-form text area "About me" in which to do it.

And, you know, it's always a good idea to inform the other person about stuff like that before you get hot and heavy (well, you don't have to go into the stuff about your mother).
