The Kitchen

Was out the other night to The Kitchen at 1186 Queen Street West, between the Gladstone and the Drake hotels, in that up-and-coming West Queen West area. Was with a group of seven from work doing a little milestone celebration. We went there after having drinks on the side patio of the Drake Hotel, which was not frankly all that spectacular. Definitely needs some decor upgrading. However, The Kitchen was great!

The Kitchen's menu sports mostly tapas-style options, although they're reasonable generous in portions, so it wouldn't take too many to make a good meal. We beef ribs, lamb chops, and bison osso-buco were really very nice. The sashimi was great, and I quite liked the asparagus and beans. While I didn't have desert, my compatriots had no complains there. And for seven, with three bottles of wine and flat and sparkling water, tax and tip all in, it still came to less than $700. Not bad!

I'll be back. It has a nice cozy yet funky feel to the place. The open front window (presumably only in good weather ;-) was also nice.
